Cameras & Video
It was only two or three decades ago that the idea of having a portable video camera of your own was something of a minor miracle. Gradually, as the technology has allowed for cameras to become digitized, with information stored digitally rather than on film or in analogue form, and as the technology has allowed for this technology to become smaller and lighter, portability has become standard.
Now our mobile phones can take high quality photos and high quality video, transmitting this around the globe using the mobile phone network, we can communicate with everyone across the world in many forms of media. This has led to us becoming the television film crews and reporters, on the streets and reporting what we see and hear. Increasingly news media companies are taking advantage of this mass proliferation of video capability, using the man on the street as the eyes of the world.
